Welcome to Sue Harding Online Tuition. I am a qualified English teacher with twenty-three years of experience, and I love what I do. I have a track record of excellent results, and expertise in assessing what each student needs to succeed and achieve.
A former English teacher at an Ofsted outstanding college, I now work as an independent tutor delivering one-to-one, online English lessons. I tutor full-time and have clients in the UK and China.
If you have any questions, or would like to book a consultation, please complete the contact form and I will be happy to discuss your child’s needs.
I design and deliver lessons to meet the individual requirements of each student. I begin with an initial consultation with the parent to discuss their child’s current performance and the areas they would like me to address. This can be done via Skype or telephone. I then create lesson materials containing text extracts, questions to aid understanding, and useful contextual information.
During the lesson I create space for the student to ask questions and really explore the text. Quite often they feel more at ease discussing material one-to-one than in a classroom situation. By the end of the lesson they have a written record of work completed which can then be used for revision purposes. I would normally set a small amount of homework to reinforce the lesson and to highlight progress made.
Students can read my blog which is designed to help them think about set texts and discuss different interpretations. I also offer help with coursework and essay writing skills.
Parents and their children lead very busy lives. Online tuition affords the flexibility and convenience of learning from home. Young people are comfortable with technology, which means online tuition is the perfect medium through which to learn; they can concentrate on the material and have the benefit of immediate feedback.
I email a lesson document to the student in advance of the session. Using Skype, we work through the materials at a pace which suits the learner. They can then write notes and answers, producing a revision document and a reference point for further questions or research.
Some of my students elect to continue their tuition during the holidays so they can maintain progress, build confidence, and prepare for the coming term.
